August 4th – Blackbook addition

Just watched a maiden at Donald and saw an interesting run worth puting in the Blackbook

ROBERTS ROAD

Got strongly specked in betting before given a horrible ride 4 wide the trip and then still managed to strike traffic in the straight. Worth following next start at much better odds. 4/8/09

August 4th – Blackbook

Here are the first Blackbook horses to add in:

Calm and Clear – 3yo Exceed and Excel filly who bolted in on debut at Ballarat 13/03. Was also entered for Open event at F’ton the next day, indicating stable has a good opinion of her. 06/04/09

Alert Princess – Very solid performance at Kilmore beaten by a promising type. 21/7/09

Eighto – Very impressive at Geelong on the synthetic track. Won by 6 without moving. Then brilliant trial on 21/7/09. Had a run on 31/07/09 but drew extremely wide and never got on the track. Stick with him.

Gag Order – Had big betting plunge and won very strongly. 22/7/09. Then ran an extremely unlucky 5th-6th when blocked for a run the entire length of the straight 29/07/09

Our Vegas Dream – Given a rough ride. Trod on heels of horses and sat 4 wide the trip. Still flew home to lose by only a length at Scone 21/7/09

Rembetica – Flies home. Just needs a good jockey on board and some distance (2008). Had a few runs since marking her and she always runs the same. Would want a good price before getting on again

Shadow Miss – Has had two runs back from a let-up – beaten less than two lengths in the Sweet Embrace behind Headway and then came from near last in the Magic Night Stakes. Gets back but can produce a finish. 11/04/09. Had a small prep then and will be looking for this horse in the Spring.

Sniplaz – Very impressive drive to the line after stuck wide. 05/03/09. Has gone on to win again a number of times. A strong country horse.

Valace – Showed plenty of promise in its maiden victory 22/7/09. Backed this run up again with a tough win 1/8/09. A horse with plenty of ticker and worth following.

Sainthood -Won Kembla Grange 1300m Maiden on Saturday in very impressive fashion. Ran a very fast time (7 lengths quicker than previous maiden) Look for it next start over 1500-1600m.

Afleet Rapper  – Showed plenty of promise in its maiden victory. Was a bit one paced though. Needs to get stoked up early 2/7/09. Has backed this up with another strong win 2/8/09

Good Luck with those and i will update when they are running or when we have more to add to the list. After time we will stop following these. You don’t really want your Blackbook getting filled up with too much junk as you are likely to not follow the ones you should then. Don’t be afraid to delete a horse.

Blackbookers

You’ll often hear me say “Put that in your Blackbook” and some of you have sent a few emails asking how you can go about this. There are many of cheap gimicks from a number of companies that want to charge you money but you can actually have one for free.

Racenet is a great site for many things. It is the primary site i use for my form analysis and it also has a FREE Blackbook section. Here you can tag any horse (They only do Gallops not dogs or Trots), and they will email you one or two days before it is due to run. You can write a little blrub about why you blackbooked it and it will be emailed back to you as well. Below is an example of one of mine:

You have blackbook horses racing on August 02:
AFLEET RAPPER
SUNSHINECOAST Race 4 No 1 at 14:25
SUNSHINE COAST DAILY HCP. 54.0. (1800m)
Your comment: 22/7/09 Showed plenty of promise in its maiden victory. Was a bit one paced though. Needs to get stoked up early.

I then was able to back this horse on Sunday paying a nice $6.00 when normally i don’t have a bet on Sundays and wouldn’t look at the form.

Anyways i have had some requests to include these horses i think should be blackbooked on here so you can get out of it the easy way. Or maybe even add them to your own Blackbooks. So from now on i will include them here.

Be careful when doing your own blackbookers. Just because a horse makes up a ton of ground doesn’t mean it was a great run.

1. A  horse that has run well against the bias (e.g. Flies home on a front runners track)

2. A horse that runs well against the speed of the race (e.g. It was the only horse of the leading bunch to hold ground as the swoopers came)

3. A Horse that has a hard luck story when given a bad ride from a jockey

4. A horse that had a hard luck story when simply couldn’t find room in the straight

*Note: Be careful of numbers 3 and 4 as some horses do like to find trouble!!
